Ben Heine – Pencil vs. Camera »

Posted on December 15th, 2012 at 12:12 in Design, Random Creativity.

Art literally meets reality in Ben Heine’s Pencil vs Camera collection. This 29-year old artist and illustrator from Belgium started this collection back in April 2010, as a fortunate consequence of own personal artistic development. The images in his collection usually depict a hand drawn artwork in white paper in front of a realistic background.

We were in New York attending Internet Week in May 2012, learning new things and getting creative fuel for future projects. We created this responsive website where we were feeding all our Instagrams, Foursquare check-ins and Tweets to give a picture of what happened and what we were up to. Check it out!

PressPausePlay »

Posted on October 7th, 2011 at 12:10 in Apps, Technology, Video, plant.

PressPausePlay is an award winning Swedish-produced documentary about creativity in the digital age. It features artists such as Moby, Robyn, Lykke Li and Bill Drummond discussing how the digital age has had democratised culture, unleashing creativity and unlimited creative opportunities.

SweetTalk Cph and Plant hostet the danish screening of the film on June 22, 2011 at Grand Teatret in Copenhagen.

PressPausePlay has now made the film available for downloading, and it’s all free!

The download gives you 2 options, either the standard version or an interactive version. The interactive version uses the Adobe Air app, and gives loads of features and opportunities for the user to interact. The best part about the interactive player is that all the interviews not included in the final theater edit are included here, which results in ten times the content. The player is also a “living” version that can be updated, unlike a DVD, and it links to media content and creative works online from the interviewees. This could be the future of film distribution because it’s a very small file download for the viewer but a huge resource of inspiration.

During the whole film hotspots with extra content is available.

The hotspots are indicated by the ‘MORE’ button at the top right corner. By clicking on it you’ll be able to find:

- EXTRAS that shows a longer interview with the person currently talking in the film.

- MORE WORKS shows additional videos from the artist/company currently on screen.

- A relevant WEBSITE of the person currently on screen.

- The music currently playing in the movie. By clicking on the artist’s name you will be directed directly to their profiles (Spotify or Soundcloud).

When a character appears in the movie for the first time their name is shown.

If you click on the name an info tab about the person will appear. The info tab contains a short text about the person and links to associated websites and profiles e.g. Myspace, Spotify, blogs etc.

The tab Overview has two submenus.

INTERVIEWS lists the cast of the movie in one place and gives the possibility to see extra clips with them.

ADDITIONAL CONTENT contains 38 extra interviews on topics related to the movie.

Italian creative firm n9ve has clearly embarked on the alphabet concept by giving it a modern take and spicing it with humor. This new video above, called Alphabet 2, beautifully combines photography, sound and animation in delivering an engaging storytelling piece as the group pays tribute to this very essential piece of human invention. Enjoy!

Evan Roth

Attending the FITC (Flash In The Can) in Amsterdam a couple of weeks ago, we had the pleasure of hearing Evan Roth speak about his many crazy, weird and wonderful ideas/projects. Check out his site here or try typing BAD ASS MOTHERFUCKER on Google, witch is one of his crazy projects, to see how long it will take him to be the first one listed when searching for those 3 key words… LOL!

A film by Lernert Engelberts and Sander Plug
We color corrected 1kg of discodip during the course of an average working day.

Thanks to: Ax Dil, Egbert Steenwinkel, Cam-a-lot, Umsjatka studio
Performance photography: Ram van Meel
Made possible by a grant of Fonds Voor Beeldende Kunsten En Bouwkunst

A series of short videos as part of a 2 hour documentary about revenge for VPRO television.

Lernert Engelberts & Sander Plug

Lernert & Sander are two dutch artists and friends who decided that working alone was getting boring and started collaborating on art related projects. Since their first video Chocolate Bunny they’ve been working on commercials, leaders, art movies, documentaries and installations. Their aim is to make simple and communicative works, that takes little note of the existing border between contemporary art and commercial projects. Their highly esthetic, humorous and dedicated works are often challenging the media and its viewer, in a simple but very effective way. Their work was selected for international festivals in New York, Rio de Janeiro and Oberhausen.
